Last month, most of our staff went to the Illinois Optometric Association Convention in Schaumburg, IL. Convention weekends are something that we all look forward to! The IOA Convention is a time for eye care professionals, including optometrists, optometric staff members, and eyewear and equipment vendors, to come together and learn from each other. We are all in this field for the same reason: to serve people. Education plays a major role in serving our patients.
During classes, eye care professionals earn continuing education credits. While doctors and certified staff can obtain online continuing education credits, there's nothing like attending classes in person. In addition to listening to the speaker, you also hear from other attendees during the Q&A sessions. This provides an opportunity for everyone to learn different ways of operating and other ideas to potentially improve processes in their own practice.
Convention weekends are filled with education and numerous networking opportunities. During lunchtime, the exhibit hall is busy with vendors showcasing various eye care equipment, frame lines, and optical labs. We make it a priority to learn from and connect with vendors to stay at the forefront of the industry.
Attending optometric conventions provides an excellent learning experience, and the amount of fun we have being together outside of the work environment is unmatched. Being a close-knit team has many advantages, with one of the biggest being that we genuinely enjoy each other's company every day. This means you have happy people who are here to assist you with your visual needs!
